Computer
Computer is an electronic device that takes input raw data from user and processes these data under the control of set of instructions ( or program) and gives output and may saves output.
A computer has four functions:
1. Accepts the data (Input)
2. Processes the data (Processing)
3. Produces the result (Output)
4. Stores that results (Storage)

COMPUTER SYSTEM = HARDWARE + SOFTWARE+ USER
•Hardware= Internal Devices + Peripheral Devices ( All parts of the computer. )
•Software = Programs (Software)
• User = Person (user who run/operates the computer.)
Function of Computer
1. Takes instructions as input.
2. Stores the data/instructions in its memory.
3. Processes the data and converts it into useful information. ( ALU )
4. Generates output.
● Input :
This is the process of entering data into the computer.
● Memory Unit :
Computer can stores the data.
● Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU):
The processes operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, performed by Arithmetic logic uni.
● Output :
This is the process of Output results from the data for getting final information.
● Control Unit :
The process of input, output, processing and storing is performed under the ‘Control Unit’.
Parts of Computer

2.Central Processing Unit ( CPU )
3.Output Unit
● Input Unit :
This unit contains devices with the help of which we enter data into computer. This unit makes link between user and computer.
●Central Processing Unit ( CPU ) :
CPU is the brain of the computer. CPU can process the data, CPU stores the data,It controls the operation of all parts of computer.
CPU itself has following three components
» Memory Unit
» ALU(Arithmetic Logic Unit)
» Control Unit
Memory Unit
This unit can store instructions, data. when user needed information which he stored on CPU this unit supplies information. It is also known as internal storage unit or main memory or Random access memory (RAM).
ALU( Arithmetic Logic Unit )
ALU performs arithmetic operations like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and logical section perform logic operations such as comparing, matching and merging of data.
Control Unit :
The process of input, output, processing and storage is performed under the supervision of a unit called ‘Control Unit’. It decides when to start receiving data, when to stop it, where to store data, etc.
