Problem: Setup is stuck at X% then What to do:
- Disconnect all unnecessary hardware components from the system. Ex. hard drives, video cards, USB devices, and expansion cards.
- These problems can also be caused by bad RAM. Run a memory diagnostic overnight, using Memest86 or something similar.
- If nothing above works, you may have bad installation media.Verify your copy of Windows came from a reputable source. Burn a new DVD, using the slow speed.
Problem 1: Error message “Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition.”
Solution:
Check the partition is primary, active, and formatted with NTFS.
Instructions for marking a partition as active using Diskpart:
command prompt:
Method 1: From Windows
Open “command prompt”and right click on it and select “Run as administrator”
Choose “Yes” when asked to confirm
Method 2: From a Windows install/repair disc
Boot into the install/repair disc and wait for it to load
Choose “Repair my computer”
Select “Command Prompt”
Type diskpart and press enter.
Enter command “list disk” and note the number of the disk you want to install on.
Enter select “disk n” n is the number of the disk.
Enter “list partition” and note the number of the partition you want to install on.
Enter select “partition n” n is the number of the partition.
Enter “active”
Close the command prompt and re-attempt installation.
Problem 2: Setup does’t recognize hard drive during installation
- Try to change the SATA setting in the BIOS to AHCI, or IDE if AHCI .
Problem 3: Missing CD/DVD Drivers…
Solution:
- Change BIOS setting from IDE to AHCI or RAID.
- If AHCI or RAID is set in the BIOS it will install the drivers.
- Change the BIOS and try the install again.
- Try to delete recovery partitions that came with the computer
